Riding for the Handicapped of Western PA

Where therapy horses and volunteers work together to make a difference in the lives of children with disabilities.

Our beneficiary, Riding for the Handicapped of Western PA (RHWPA). RHWPA is a 501-C3 non-profit organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding for children with intellectual and/or physical disabilities in the Pittsburgh area. Approximately 75% of their riders are children living with autism but children with all disabilities are welcome. The horse’s adjustable gait promotes riders to constantly adjust to encourage pelvic motion while improving strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, posture, and mobility. April 27, 2024 from 9am-5pm, is the 9th Spin Your Wheels fundraiser at the Lauri Ann West Community Center, 1220 Powers Run Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238. Spin Your Wheels is a fitness-based event benefitting Riding for the Handicapped of Western PA. A variety of group fitness classes and indoor cycling classes are held. There is a huge basket raffle, complimentary food and drinks, a DJ, a live artist performance, a braid bar, massages and much more.

Spin Your Wheels is a family friendly event. There is something for everyone of all ages and all abilities. We also offer complimentary childcare so you can feel free to exercise and spend time at our complimentary service tables without worry.

This event exists because disabilities touch all of our lives. Jen’s 21 year old son Luke has autism, cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Katherine is an elementary special education teacher who works with children with cognitive, emotional and social needs. Andrea has close friends who have children with disabilities.

Please consider being a sponsor for our event. Sponsorships are $150 and in return, you will have a large banner with your logo displayed at our event, social media promotion for your business, special mention at the event and your logo placed on our website. Checks should be made out to “RHWPA” and mailed to Jennifer Evashavik at the above address. If you are not able to attend on April 27, 2024 or be a sponsor, please consider donating a gift basket for our raffle, a gift card or an item from your store for a prize or a monetary donation.
